Hailstorm struck eastern Ogusi Parish in Zumbo District, Northern Uganda on the 6th May destroying crops on 1,363 acres of land in Obayo, Winam, Yamu Center, Akwerali, Padwor Ora, Padwor Rubanga and Padwor Ngia villages.

The rains also affected sections of the Royal Palace of Rwoth Alur located in Winam village, a house in Obayo village, an incomplete structure in Yamu Center village and a grass thatched house in Winam village.

According to the Uganda Red Cross Society assessment in the affected villages, residents may not have enough food for the year as the disaster deprived them of the season's produce. Crops like cassava are being uprooted prematurely to avoid getting wasted in ground.

The numbers of people at risk of hunger are 931 male, 986 female and 1,482 children.
